which driver license i have.I have 2 driver’s license one is from my country of origin (mexico) and and international translation driver’s license which expires on 13-feb-02.

so i went and payed the speeding ticket $140 and asked a dismissal of the no driver’s license ticket. And the girl at the desk said no and that i have to go a hearing with a grand jury to contest the ticket.

i told her i have no other choice but to contest because i wasn’t driving without driver’s license.

Licence expired since 3 days

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Nicolas didn’t get the notice for his driver’s licence renewal… He unfortunately got a ticket… And he is asking if there is a 48hours delay, since his licence was expired since 3 days only and that he paid for it the morning after…

Hello,
I am 19 years old and got arrested once (January 23rd) since my licence was expired since 3 days.

So I got a 438$ ticket. I never got the letter that reminded me that I had my licence to pay and so I didn’t waste any time and paid for it the morning after. I would like to know if there is a 48hours delay to prove that I did my renewal in order to void the ticket ???

Ticket and probationary licence

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Ouf ! When you have a probationary licence, you must be careful to don’t get any tickets since the numbers of points are limited…

Ticket and probationary licence don’t go well together… Talk about this to Frederic…

I just got caught and got a 1195$ and 14 demerit point ticket (930+255+10) and I have my probationary licence… what should I do ? I will have my 15 points in August, but on my probationary I only have 1 point left (I lost 3points in last April) and I already am contesting 2 tickets (2 points 130 in a 100km/h zone) and (3 points, sure of winning) ? I just don’t want to lose the points.

How to avoid the losing of a probationary licence

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Jérome risks losing his licence since he got caught for excessive speeding when he droved down a hill… is there any way to contest effectively the ticket ?

A few tips on how to avoid the losing of a probationary licence…

His story :
***************************
Hello,

On April 27th, I got a 118$ ticket and two demerit points for driving at 77km/h in a 50km/h zone.

The problem is that I only have my probationary licence and I only got 2 points left. I will have my real licence on March 2nd 2011, so in about 10 months. I would like to contest in order to win some time and get the points on March 2nd. The thing is that I don’t know if I have a valid reason to contest the ticket in front of the judge. (more…)

Ticket for not paying the registration plate

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

The following story is from Sylvianne. It is concerning a ticket for not paying the registration plate…
***

My spouse and I lived the same situation (Ticket for registration papers) since I didn’t pay my registration plate for this year but the ticket was sent to my spouse and not me. Must he pay a ticket on a vehicle that isn’t his (so it is not his plate that need to be paid, but mines). The officer had made a mistake filling out the ticket and gave it to him instead of me (since his registration plates are paid, it is mine that are not paid for). However, the thing we might not know is that the driver is maybe responsible for the vehicle he is driving even if it is not his ?

I don’t know, can you help me ?

Thank you!!!
******

There is some very important information missing in order for me to give you good advices… Who was driving the vehicle ? And the vehicle belongs too ? The registration plate is related to the vehicle… It is the owner responsibility to make sure that the registration is paid… no matter who is driving the vehicle…

So if it is YOUR car that belongs to you Sylvianne that’s been arrested by the officer… it is normal that ticket is given… I don’t know if the ticket should be or not at the name of the owner or the driver… You can ask for the communication of the evidence in order to have more details… You can also ask information by calling at the SAAQ… (Come back and tell us the answer !!!)

Hello!
Here is the following of my daughter’s story.

My daughter didn’t want to contest here ticket, choice that I respected even if it wasn’t mine. But the following events made her regret her decision… We paid the fine… which also means that we plead guilty.

So, the case at the SAAQ was actualised : 10 demerit points are added (when she is only allowed 4 with her probative license) = suspension of the license for 3 months :-( This is not a good timing when you are following a summer course on evenings, that your boyfriend moved 15 km away and mostly that you’ve just started a summer job that requires a vehicle (well not absolutely, it is not a taxi driver’s job, but understand that mommy and daddy are not enchanted about the fact that they need to drive her mornings and evenings…) (more…)

Driver’s license trade in Quebec

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

It is possible for people from different country or simply other provinces to do a driver’s license trade in order to get a Quebecker’s license… Therefore, it is also possible for a Quebecker going out of the province to trade his license for one from his new country or province.

Here is M. Roy story that warns us from trading Quebec/New-Brunswick licenses.
***

Hello, On May 5 2009, I leave Quebec for a 2-4 moth stay in New-Brunswick. After my arrival in New-Brunswick, I decided to trade my Quebec license in New-Brunswick. However, before the trading, I called at the New-Brunswick services in order to get the information concerning the current rules. That being done and knowing the current rules, I get informed on the demerit points since I’ve got 11 in Quebec, since in New-Brunswick you can only get 10 points.

The clerk online mentioned that this will have no consequences on the trading and that the points don’t follow. So, I get to the New-Brunswick service department, Shippagan district. Once there, I ask for the trading, the lady gets my Quebec’s folder out see my 11 demerit points in Quebec and tells me… “ Well, you are lucky ; you will get a new start, no points ”. Then I get my picture done and start the trade. Here I am with my brand new New-Brunswick license. Everything is going well, we are May 7th 2009, my license is changed and installed. (more…)

How not to lose your demerit points on your driving license

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

***
The story below has been circulating on the Internet for many years… I have no any idea if it is an urban legend or if there is any truth in it.

How not to lose your demerit points on your driving licenseHowever, I have a hard time believing that the adjustment of the demerit points is not automatic in the centralized file. The safety road code and the payment system must necessarily be two distinct entities!

In addition, the so-called “programmer” and “retired cop” is aware of systems in all the provinces… Is it the programmer who carried out the development of the systems in all the provinces? Because let’s not forget that the road code is of provincial jurisdiction… It is rather not very probable that the systems overall the country is identical.

For the interested parties, here is one of the versions circulating…

If somebody tested it… please share…!
